The Artists Are Cooking

So LET 'EM COOK!!

Pizzinis

This is the answer to “What’s for Lunch?”
Trust me. It’s THIS.

Time to pull out your old freezer bags of spaghetti sauce…or a fresh jar of your favorite from the cupboard, and cook up something drool-worthy in answer to that nightly question, “What’s for dinner?” Because now you can say, “I know what we’re having for dinner tonight!”

Lunch or dinner worthy, here are your options 🙂

Menu choices:

Ingredients:

  • Bagels
(Walmart’s Great Value brand sells a pack of 6 for $1.98–and these are honestly better than their Thomas brand counterparts 😉)
  • Spaghetti sauce
(I used homemade, but Walmart sells 24oz jars of either Tomato Basil Garlic or Traditional pasta sauce for $1.48. And if you’ve got a favorite, go with that one!)
Here is -> a link for homemade sauce, which costs: ~$20.
  • Shredded cheese
(At Walmart, you can get a 1lb [~4 cup] bag for $3.98. Or a 1/2 lb [~2 cup] bag for $2.22.)
  • An oven that heats to 475o
(Or, I mean, you can cook it over a primitive fire, who am I to stop you? Maybe you’re camping 🤷🏼‍♀️ In this case, I’d recommend bringing tin foil to wrap it in so that it cooks a lil more evenly 😉)
  • A spoon
You may want a spoon for this recipe, as the sauce may be too thick to actually dip–if so, you may want to shovel it on with a spoon 😉

Optional:

  • Ramekins
These are small bowls often used for side orders or for ingredients. I got a couple acrylic ones at Walmart that were the perfect size, for $1.24 each.
You can also get glass or ceramic ones for a couple bucks more.
  • Parchment paper (optional)
(I use parchment paper to put it in the oven, because then all the cheese drips are caught and you get a lil crunchy side-snack 😜 But this isn’t required)
You can buy parchment paper sheets for $3.88 at Walmart.
  • I also use tin foil underneath the parchment paper, because tin foil cools faster than a baking sheet.
You can get tin foil for about $4, give or take 40 cents, depending on the brand.
Cost total: $7.44

Instructions

Dippers

Preheat your oven to 475 degrees Farenheit.

If you haven’t readied a sauce to use, start your sauce so that it’s warm and prepared by the time you’re ready for it in ~10 minutes.

Lay out a folded piece of tin foil that can hold both bagels and layer it with parchment paper.

Pull out a bagel and cut it horizontally if you don’t have pre-cut, and place it on your little station.

Get out some shredded cheese and pour onto the bagels as much or as little as you like.

Stick the bagels in the oven and turn the light on.

Bake them for 6-8 minutes (until they’re nice and crispy the way you like them.

Finish your sauce while the bagels bake and pull out some ramekins or any small bowl to put your sauce in.

When the bagels are looking delicious, pull them out.

Dish some sauce and dig in!

You can beautifully plate your bagels, or you can eat them straight off that parchment.
